6 Egypt Silk Mill 2pi, wind turbine . Revisions 4B, 11 July 2011, panel 1 of 3 . _ These figures provide a rotated view of a type of fillet which could join the wings' tips to the perimeter ring, making that union stronger . As this fillet expands while maintaining an airfoil profile, it should offer added lift . _ In the lowest images of the columns, (the first two columns of five total), the fillet's ringward end is to the viewer ; airflow is from screen-top to bottom, and rotation is rightward . In the highest images, the fillet's wingward end is toward the viewer, airflow is from screen-bottom to top and rotation (also) rightward . _ _ _ 6 Egypt Silk Mill 2pi, wind turbine . Revisions 4B, 11 July 2011, panel 2 of 3 . ( center column ) _ In this column, a (partially cut-away) section of the perimeter ring is shown, together with a fillet and a small section of wing . This perimeter ring is also airfoil shaped, for reduced drag . I expect the shape to create a slight acceleration of the air moving past the ring's widest point . The fillet meets the ring there, hopefully with a slight boost to efficiency . - - - 6 Egypt Silk Mill 2pi, wind turbine . Revisions 4B, 11 July 2011, panel 3 of 3 . _ These figures provide a rotated view of a type of fillet which could join the wings' tips to the perimeter ring, making that union stronger . The rotation shown is complementary to that of panel one . _ In these, (the last two columns of five total), the airflow is from screen-bottom to top . The direction of rotation varies, from rightward in the top two figures, to leftward in the bottom two . _ I hope that rotation speed will be slightly below 2pi times windspeed . |
